PROSPECTS OF GOLD AT RAGLAN.
On September 9th, Mr Fuller of Raglan, having most experience in such matters, was invited by Mr Wilson to go up to his place and look at some specimens which had been found in a creek. He did so, and found a very small sample of gold, which has since been tested. The locality has not been stated, but it is believed to he in the district between Raglan and Otea. Mr Fuller was waiting for a couole of days to obtain more samples, and bring them on to Auckland. The following .extract from a private letter has been handed to us for publication :—“ There is Iflreport that gold has been got about 12 miles from Raglan. The people say it is a very good sample.” We understand that there is at present a prospecting party, consisting of Mr. Liddel, formerly of Kawhia, and several natives, in the country between Port Waikato and Raglan. They have been out a .fortnight, and have met with likely stuff, but no gold. Mr Liddell deserves great praise for his exertions, the party being maintained at his own charge.
