Fhom: the Sydney Morning Herald we lciam that, as - two pilot boats;were endeavoring to board the ship ‘Strathedon,’ from London, during a very heavy gale onihe‘29t!i ultimo; they both capsized. From Newcastle we learn that the schooner ‘Otago’ went on shore at North Beach, hut it is stated, that no lives have been lost.

WRECKS ON THE WEST COAST. The recent heavy weather has proved disastrous to Auckland shipping' off, the Southern ports. The cutter Cordelia,..bound to, Auckland,with grain, from Christchurch, w r as driven ashore near Wellington Heads,, and. all hands perished. The mate and a seaman leave wives and families in Auckland to mourn, their loss.' The schooner Wild. Wave, hailing from the Manukau, is believed., to have foundered off Cape Egmont, considerable quantifies of wreck, having been, washed ashore wluch were taken on to. Auckland by the s.s. Airedale, and identified as portions of the schooner. ' The Auckland., brigantine Vistula, Capt.., Baton, well known at this port, has also been driven ashore during a gale at.Oamani,. and was high aud.dry, considsrably injured, at date of last advices. Numerous other disasters are recorded in the papers to halid.
