The scores were :r—Chisholm (winner ; of • the belt): 42; Lacoy, 36 ; Smith, 35 ; Craigie, 85 ; Richardsdn (the Canterbury mao) 31. Smith and Craigiefired off their tie, and 1 Smith won. Fourteen men competed for the prizes. . The Rakai.a has. sailed. . The. number of passengers_per Rakaia, from Wellington for Panama,' was ninety-six. The Hon. Daniel Pollen has been.apointed agent at Auckland for the General Government.
Owing to the non-arrival of the Mataura with the proper official, Mr R-. Kirton, chief clerk in- the Post Office here, left yesterday in the Rakaia in charge of the mails.
The Hon. John Hall, Postmaster-Ge-neral, returned from Sydney on Saturday evening in the mail steamer Rakaia. The Hon. R. Stokes left Wellington yesterday in the , Rakaia, en route foe Europe via Panama. We understand that Mr Stokes contemplates returning to New Zealand, but the duration of his visit to the mother country is at present uncertain.

The' Governor left in H.M.S.S. Brisk at half-past ten this morning for Picton, — thence to Nelson. N o news of the Mataura from Panama.
