Impounded Stock. —As will be seen by advertisements, two sales of impounded horses take place at the Meanee Sale Yards during the present weik—the first on Wednesday, at noon; and tbe other on Friday, at 2 o’clock p.m.
English Mail. —The s s. * Taranaki ? is due here to-morrow from Southern Provinces, and will probably be the bearer- of the English mail via Suez. Whether the Panama portion will arrive by the same opportunity remains to be seen. Holidays. —To-day and to-morrow, being Easter Monday' and St. George’s Dayj will be observed as holidays at the Provinoial Government offices. An Example Worth Following.— As will be seen oh reference to the adve - tisement of 'Messrs W. Hague and Sons, and that of Messrs Baldwin and Higgins, the price of butchers’ meat has been considerably reduced. Could not- our bakers do something in the way of reducing the price of the “ staff of life ” ?
