Mtta W. H. Newton’s benefit at the Masonic TT«.U on the 23rd was a' triumphant success. The attendance, notwithstanding the' inclemeiicy of the weather, .was large and .respectable. “ Plot and Passion is a splendid piece, and it was well rendered ; Mrs Newton’s Splendid impersonation o£ Madame de Fontanges was-ranch admired ; while Mr Newton as Fouohe, Mr Kemp as Desmarets, and Mr Swan as Henride Neuvillei'eustained their respective parts.in an admirable, manner., And we believe that a vexy .plesant evening was passed by all who were 1 present.
