Sir Janies Barrett has been elected president of the British Medic«l Society for 1935-36, says a London cable.
Mr T. E. Crosse has been unanimously re-elected chairman of the Hawke’# Bay Rabbit Board, members at yesterday's meeting making eulogistic references to his long service to the board.
The Hon. Sir Alfred Ransom, actingPrime Minister, is making a good recovery from his serious illness. It now seems probable that he will be able to resume Ministerial duty toward th# end of next week.
Mr. Duncan Hall, an Australian, author of “The British Commonwealth of Nations,” has been appointed Dominion Press Officer for the League of Nations at Geneva, reports a London cable.
Mr W. Kronk, storekeeper to the Public Works Department, at Namgr, who suffered a bad heart attack three weeks ago, is making good progress. It is anticipated that he will not be able to return to work for about a fort, night.
Father John Higgins, until recently vice-rector of St. Patrick’s College, Wellington, and director of Catholic Social Studios, Wellington, leaves for Canada and the United States in August to attend the Catholic University at Washington for the purpose of further study in sociology and to make a fuller acquaintance with modern social problems. - Press Assn,
Mr E. 1.. Sutro and Mr F. D. Herrick. who flew from Brisbane to London on tho inaugural flight of Imperial Airways between Australia and England, arrived on Monday. They were particularly hoping to see the military tatoo i# connection with the King’s Sih er Jubilee celebrations, and were just in time to be present at it.
