KNITTED SINGLET PATTERN
An appeal is being made by the Plunket Society for knitted garments for children between the ages of one and two years and the following is a very simple singlet pattern which could be knitted by quite inexperienced knitters, the results from which would be very gratefully accepted by, the society to be given to some of the tiny folk who are longing for come warmer clothes.
We, who do not know what it is to feel cold, could surely spend a fewminutes and use some of our oddments of wool to make one of these singlets. Use number 9 needles and 3-ply wool. Cast on 56 stitches and knit 8 or 9 inches in ribbing. Cast on six stitches at each end for sleeves and knit in garter stitch for two inches. Cast off enough stitches for a neck opening and knit two or three rows, then casting on the stitches again. Knit the back the same as the front and then crochet round the neck.
