BRITISH FARMERS IN FAVOUR. OVERWHELMING MAJORITY. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 7, 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 6. By an overwhelming majority, 150,000 farmers of England and Wales have declared themselves in favour of tbe Government's milk marketing scheme, under which the sale and collection of milk is controlled by a board. The result of the poll of farmers recently taken on the proposed formation of national and regional milk pools was announced to-day by the National Farmers’ Union as follows: In favour, 96.42 per cent.; against, 3.58 per cent. On the basis of the figures declared by registered producers, the number of cows on August 19 last was 1,556,848. Registered producers who voted in favour of the scheme possess 96.61 per cent, of the cows, and those who voted against own 3.39 per cent.
