SWIMMING
ANOTHER CLUB NIGHT HERETAUNCA'S CARNIVAL A FINE PROGRAMME. The third club night carnival under the auspices of the Heretaunga Swimming Chib was held in the Maddison Baths last evening when there was a good crowd, The programme was a lengthy one and attracted big entries which allowed for well contested events. The finishes in most instances were excellent, the best of the evening being the ladies 50 yards. In this the iontest was keenly fought between Miss Landels (scr) and Miss Stevens (4secs), the verdict going to the latter by a few inches.

Final: Triers (Muir, Kemp and Potts) 1, Wonders 2, Veterans 3. Time. 52secs. lONA SPORTS. CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR THE YEAR. There were about 100 parents and friends present at the annual swimming sports of the lona College, Havelock North, and the function was favoured with good weather. Naturally great interest surrounded the championship events for which there were large entries. The senior championship was annexed by Miss M. Powdrell. with 13 poirtts while Miss J. Wood was runner-up with 6 points. In the junior championship, Miss N Endean was the winner, gaining 20 pointe, with Miss J. Barber runner-up with 7 points. The form and house relays also occasioned a great deal of excitement, the girls spurring on their representatives in true college manner. The officials, who so ably conducted the function were as follows:— Judges, the Rev. Waugh and Messrs W. Nimon and J. B Campbell; starter. Miss Vincent (sports mistress).
