HEARST PAPERS’ CHARGES
PAYMENT TO U.S. SENATORS.
“SECRET EXPENDITURE FOR PRO-MEXICAN PROPAGANDA.”

Senate to-day ordered an investigation by a special committee into the charges published by the Hearst papers alleging that Mexico provided i’,200,000 dollars for three United States Senators.
The newspaper articles alleged that President Calles directed that payment be charged to “secret expenditure for prc-Mexican propaiigada.” A fourth Senator is stated to have received 15,000 dollars “for services rendered to the proletariat of the world ” —(A. and N.Z.)
