monthly meeting. “STAND-BY” PLANT STILL NECESSARY. The monthly meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Electric Power Board was held in Napier yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs J. B. Andrew (chairman). J. W. Callaghan W. Harvey, J. Ellis. T E. Crosse, M. S. Chambers, J. H Scott. R. D. Kettle and H. Hill- Leave of absence was granted to Messrs G. A. Maddison and J. Phillips. The district electrical engineer wrote forwarding a draft copy of agreement between the Hastings Borough Council and the Public Works Department for the purchase of' power by the Department. The agreement was subject to the approval of the board. “It is very nice to know that the Public Works Department is taking steps to see that the district is supplied with energy,” said the chairman "Mr. Scott, as borough engineer of Hastings, has been most fair in arranging to have the Hastings plant as a stand-by. I understaonS that negotiations are now in train in Napier for some similar agreement.” Mr. H. Hill: This arrangement will go on until Waikaremoana comes to hand ?
Mr Andrew: Yes. that is the ease. A letter from Mr. E. H Williams claiming £2OO as compensation for damage done to a number of trees was referred to the Finance Committee.
