METHODIST YOUNG WOMEN
BIBLE CLASS RALLY. HAWKE’S BAY UNION. The quarterly rally of the Methodist Hawke’s Bay Young Women's Bible Class Union was held in the Methodist Hal] on Wednesday evening when about 40 girls, with leaders, sat down to tea. The room and tables were prettily decorated with flowers and streamers in blue and white (union colours). Mrs J. B Pickering (president) presided and there were present representatives from the church and Sundav school, the junior and senior classes of both Napier and Hastings and a representative from Woodville. Miss French (union secretary) read apologies from other classes and leaders who were unable to attend. After tea, the gathering was addressed by Mrs Chapman Tn.-ler of Havelock North, who spoke on “Womanhood.” She held up before the young women present a high ideal, and one worthy to be attained. She enumerated several women who, by their worthy sendee to humanity, had their names enshrined on the honours roll of history. In a heart-to-heart talk she showed those present how God had called iach to service for Himself In appealing words, the speaker nrged the girls to accept their responsibilities and privileges as women and as citizens in “God’s own countrv.’’
Mrs Horne, of Napier, voiced ’he thanks of the meeting to Mrs Chap-man-Taylor for her interesting <nd instructive address.
During the evening group discussions on “How much should a girl spend yearly in replenishing her wardrobe.” created a good deal of merriment.
Supper and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne’ 1 closed a hoppy gathering.
