KIA TOA CLUB.
A BIRTHDAY FUNCTION
An interesting function took place at the Kia Toa bowling green last evening, when members were entertained at te a by Mr. W. Burfield. a life member of the club, on the occasion of his birthday. After a sumptuous repast. Mr. T. Williams, president, on behalf of the members, thanked Mr. Burfield for his kindness in arranging such a pleasant tea party, and wished him "Many happy returns of the day.” The speaker also referred to the trip Mr. Burfield would soon be tailing to the Old Country, and expressed the hope for a pleasant tour an<| a safe return. After the singing of "For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” Mr. Burfield acknowledged the kind wishes expressed, and said it had always given him pleasure to do anything to forward the welfare of the Kia Toa Club. 'The following games completed a happy evening :— Barley. Allison, Aiteheson, Burfield (18) v Hood, Hart, Williams. Schofield (14). Laredo, Peat, Turner Gray (23) v. Tunnicliffe, Hartley, Parkhill Lincoln (11). sMacklowi Ballard (21) v. Walker, Bennison (17), Championship Singles: Wallace (21) v. Perry (16). ST LEONARD'S GAMES. The following competition games for the Campbell Cup were played during the week: — Wilson, Allaway. Hampton, Sutherland (20) v. T. Keith. Parsons. 'Wellman, Godber (23). Upchurch, Hawley, Struthers, Maher (20) v. Giles, Clark H. Burfield. Schofield (23). Drury, Palmer, Lewis, B Brown (16) v. Simcoe, Munro D. Dunn, Hendry (22). Murray Scott. W. Keith. ?.
