PRELIMINARY HAWKE CUP MATCH. MARLBORO 1 ' v. NELSON. w elm, Dec. 8. The cricket march, Marlborough v. Nelsoh, a preliminary in the Hawke Cup competition, commenced here today in fine but dull weather with a good wicket. The six-ball over waa reverted to. Marlborough won the toss and batted first. The fielding was keen but at the lunch adjournment the home side were three down for 108. Details :— MARLBOROUGH. First Innings. H. M. Neal, hot out 31 H. Robinson 34 V. Miller 10 I. Allardyce 7 H.
