DAIRY PRODUCTION
SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE. (Per Press Association). Wallington. Dec. 8. A statement issued by the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture shows that the salted butter graded for November totalled 11 077 tons, compared with 0925 tons salted and 326 tons unsalted, a total of 10,251 tons, for November of last year, an increase of 16.7 per cent. For the four months ended November. 192'/. the respective quantities were 27,233 tons and 1640 tons a. total of 28 873 tons, compared with 23.545 tons and 441 tons, a total of 23.986 tons, for the corresponding period of the preceding season, an increase of 20.3 per cent.
The cheese graded last November comprised: White, 7641 tons, coloured 3887 tons, a total of 11.528 tons, compared With 7079 tons white and 3576 tons coloured, a total of 10,655 tons, for November, 1926, an increase of 8.1 per cent. The quantities for the four months ended November, 1927 were: White 14,627 tons, coloured 7950 tons, a total of 22,577 tons, compared with 14.085 tons white" and 6899 tons coloured, a total of 20,964 tons, for the corresponding period of the preceding season, an increase of 7.6 per cent. Converting these figures into butter-ter-fat equivalent, there is an increase of 16.7 per cent, in butter-fat production for the four months as compared with the corresponding period of the 1926-27 season. Stocks held in the farious grading ports at November 30, 1927.: were Butter, 4630 tons; cheese. 5538 tons; as compared with 6912 tons buttor and 6040 tons of cheese held on November 30, 1926.
