Tho monkeys nt the Auckland Zoo are in mourning. Barney the orangoutang is deaH. Barney was ill for some days and medical attention was obtained for him. did not recover, however, and after his death a postmortem examination was made. It is believed that the orang-outang died from poisoning. Some ill-advised person had evidently give him a cigarette and the tobacco had caused nis death.
