John Scott Crawford, a railway guard who was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital on Friday suffering from a compound fracture to the skull, did not regain consciousness and died at about 4.20 p.m. on Sunday. Crawford was on an empty goods ti'iii'ii returning to Dune din and an cye-wituess. who was in the vicinity of Hie curve on Hie north side of Sawyers Buy, saw the f’oceased standing at the side door of the van. Apparently Im nver-l>ql-anced and fell, striking his head on the rails.
