PIGEON RACING
TIMARU RACE. ANOTHER RECORD. The Hastings Club flew their second race from Timaru last Saturday The birds were liberated at 5.30 a.m. and the first bird arrived in Hastings a few minutes after 5 p.m. beating last week’s record by nearly an hour. The winning bird was Dr. H. M. Wilson’s Red Pepper. This bird won the Timaru race last year, covering the journey in very bad weather with another loft mate. These were the only birds home in race time last year. The doctor should be proud of such a good racer. Results:— Dr. H. M. Wilson’s R.C. Cock Red Pepper, 1120.2yds per min 1 Dr. 11. M. Wilson B.C. hen Beauty 1116yds per min 2 A. B. Hixon’s B.C. hen, Golden Rod, 994.2yds 3 A. B. Hixon’s B.C. cock Picottee 4 Other lofts: J. C. H. Baker, H, Fannin. Time, llhrs. 1 33min. 21 seconds.
