FATAL COLLISION

ON SANATORIUM HILL CAR AND MOTOR CYCLISTS. ONE DIES IN HOSPITAL: THE OTHER IN SERIOUS CONDITION. [Special to "Tribune") Waipukurau, Dec. 5. A fatal accident occurred on the Sanatorium Hili a tew miles south of Waipukurau yesterday afternoon, when a motor cycle ridden by Mr. Nei| Anderson, aged 21, of Palmerston North, with Mr. Sydney Gunderson, ot the same ago, of Norsewood. on the pillion, collided with a motor car driven by Mr. F. D, Luckie, farmer, of Hastings. Mr. Luckie had just commenced the ascent of the hill and near a bend met the cyclists, who were unable, apparently owing to shingle, to get across to their left side of the road, and the motor cycle and the car met in collision, after the cycle had swung towards the water-table. The cyclists had to be extricated from the twisted frame of the machine, which was under the car, by the car driver and Mr, C. W. Donahi, who was droving sheep. Members of the Dannevirke Salvation Army Band who were passing by and others from Waipukurau rendered assistance Mr. Anderson was frightfully injured and wag unconscious. He passed away at 4 o’clock this morning in hospital, where he was removed after being attended to by Dr. Raymond. Gundersen is still in a critical state.
