In a Sheffield Shield match, Victoria (against South Australia) in the first innings lost two for 305— Woodful 43. Ponsford 133. Hendry not out 93. Ryder not put 22. Ram in the morning did not interfere with the covered wicket, but the outfield was slow end dead. A short drizzle in the forenoon made the conditions tricky. After a slow start there was brilliant and interesting cricket. Ponsford and Hendry added 164 in quick time, Hendry and Ryder keping things moving merrily till rain stopped plav for the day at 5.30.
