HAMMER THROWING. HOLDER BREAKS HIS RECORD. Dunedin, Dec. 2. In throwing the 161 b. hammer in the preliminaries of the Otago Amateur Athletic Association’s championship this evening, J. Leckie (Otago University) put up an excellent performance by throwing the hammer 147 feet 8 inches, thu? breaking his own New Zealand record of 126 feet. MILITARY SPORTS. London, Dec. 1. The Military College of Australia, by 14 points, won the Lafferty Cup for sports, defeating Sandhurst (12). Canada (9) and Woolwich (5). Hitherto Sandhurst won for six years in miceession. This year Australia won the relay race and mile fiat race and was second in the high jump and swimming.- (A. and N.Z.)
