WHY ARMADA LOST. London, Nov. 23. The naval historian, Mr. Carr Laughton, has Investigated the defeat ot the Spanish Armada, and ne says that the story of its destruction by terrible storms, is a pure myth. The historical records show that the storm was not serious, although it might have endang. ered an unwieldy and unseaworthy snip on a lee shore. The huge Spanish three-deckers were battered by the English gunfire and became unmanageable. He says better ships, seamanship and nghting. defeated the Armada.
