WAIPUKURAU

ORPHANS’ CLUB PUKEORA CONCERT. A concert party from the members of the Waipukurau Orphans’ Club journeyed to tile Pukeora Sanatorium on Wednesday night m fulfilment of the usual annual visitation, receiving a very cordial reception from the patients and staff. The visitors were conveyed in cars kindly provided bv Messrs R Scott, A. P. Uren, J. Windle, B. Mathieson, and J. Hughes. At the elose of the evening’s entertainment. Dr G. Malcolm, -he medical superintendent, expressed hearty appreciation of the visit and the excellent programme presented, while Chief Orphan G. L Chatwin, in response, said that 11 had ben a special pleasure to again participate in a function of the kind at Pukeora. The visitors were hospitably entertained at supper. The orchestra, under Orphan Watkins, played several selections; Orphans Bovce, Haldane, and Miss N. Welsh contributed vocal solos; Miss Major, musical monologues; Orphans Mann, McLeod, and Cooper, guitar trios; Orphan E. Barnes, violin solos; Orhans Wood. Davies. Barnes. Walker, Burgess, topical; Orphan McKenzie, Highland dance; items by O: phans Hughes, Piki and Chatwin. The accompaniments were Played by Deputy-Chief .Orphan S. H. Worm with one exception—Miss L. Welch iccompanied her sister.
