ALGERIAN FLOODS
Desolation Hardly Imaginable Fertile Plains Covered With Mud Heavy Loss of Life (Received 2, 8.5 a.m.) Paris, Dec. iM. Violette, a former Governor- General of Algeria, states that the fertile plains of Oran are .covered by Scinches of mud, rendering them useless for an indefinite period. He estimates that 250 Europeans and 2500 natives are dead. The desolation is hardly imaginable. There is no sign of life and bodies are floating in the muddy water. It is still raining—(A. and N.Z.)
