Novel Term of Incubation.—A Peilding resident took a risk with a sitting of eggs a fortnight ago but received a pleasant surprise (says an exchange). A brood hen had been set for hatching. After performing her duty for a period of eight or 10 days, she loft the nest. The poultry fancier then gathered the eggs and placed them in a cupboard below his electric hot water service, where there was an as surance of a constant and even temperature. This novel form of incubation proved entirely successful for on a recent morning a little family made itself heard, arid an investigation disclosed a batch of fine, healthy chicks. Ambassador of Peac«.—The Japnese Consul-General. Mr I. Tokugawa, made it clear in an’ address at Auckland that he is an ambasador of inter national peace and goodwill. When he remarked “there are wicked people in the world,’’ the application was not evident until he added “I refer to those people who speak of the possibility of war between the United States and Japan.’* He asserted his own belief that there was no possibility of such a thing occurring, and mentioned as one commercial reason the fact that the export of silk to America stood at the top of Japan ese exports. Japan had nothing to gain by fighting but much to lose. A WORD TO WOMEN. SURGICAL OPERATION UNNECESSARY. “I suffered for thirteen years with bleeding piles.
