CONTEST FOR MEMORIAL CUP. ANNUAL DRILL DISPLAY. The annual inter-platoon competition in military exercises by the Hastings High School Cadet Corps was held yesterday. When the final phase to decide which platoon should hold the Horace Brooke Taylor Memorial Cup for the next twelve montfis was staged. Yesterday the cadets were inspected by Lieut-Colonel H. Holderncss and Lieutenant P. J. S. George, the competition consisting of a drill inspection. and a display of arm-drill and' a march past in column and then in line. The results of the competitions were as below Platoon Drill..—No. 1 (Sergt. Graham) 190 points. 1; No. 3 (Sergt. Anderson) 182 points, 2; No. 2 (Sergt. Cameron) 178 points, 3. Section Drill.—No. 6 (Corp). Hagenson) 1, No. 4 (Corp! Irwin) 2, No. 8 (Corp!. Collinge) 3. In addressing the gathering, Liout.-Colonel Holderncss expressed himself as well pleased with the boys’ work and complimented them also upon their appearance.
