SANTA CLAUS & BOXING
NAPIER ASSOCIATION’S EFFORTS.
Santa Claus comes to us all soma time or other and on this occasion all boxing lovers will receive his gift in the form of a magnificent programme of boxing which has taken the association some two months to finally settle. The Napier Association is the only one that is giving a double-star programme, and it is setting a high standard of value for money. Taylor has been seen in action in Napier at the New Zealand championships, which he won. This title he held for three years, being an easy winner each year. Taylor turned professional, and when tbld that he was a certainty for the Olympic Games applied for reinstatement as an amatuer, and although he had not yet had a contest, could not regain hia amateur status. Mr. Earl Stewart said of Taylor that he was, without exception, the cleverest exponent of a straight left that New Zealand has produced. Adams fought a draw with T. Donovan over six rounds, and those who have seen Donovan lately know what it means ever to get a draw with him. Adams is the goods, and Carrol will find someone who will not allow him to smile at the ladies in the dress circle, but will keep him busy. Carrol established himself a hot favourite with the Hawke’s Bay public at his last contest here. Help the Napier Boxing Association to maintain the high standard it has commenced. Each contest has been better than the last, it was a wellsatisfied audience that left the theatre after the last contest. Prices will be the same as before.
