LICENSING CASE
CHARGES DISMISSED. The Magistrate's Court case in which B. F.- O'Rourke, licensee ,of the Railway Hotel, Port. Ahurin, was charged with exposing liquor for sale after hours and opening licensed premises after hours, was concluded yesterday in Napier. “1 think that the whole qf the circumstances are very suspicious.” said His Worship in dismissing all tlie charges. “It is perfectly clear that a man went into the hotel with a parcel under his arm, but I am not sure that that person was Laurenson. I am not satisfied that Johansen, the boarder, was the man who ordered the beer, but at the same time if it was Laurenson it would be plain that there had been a transaction in the nature of a sale.” His Worship added that he did not believe that the questions asked by the sergeant were in the nature of a trap. John Laurenson, who was charged with being on the premises, was fined £2 and costs 10s.
