PREMATURE EXPLOSION
TWO MEN KILLED. Dunedin, Nov. 28. A blasting accident which resulted in the deaths of two men, named Andrew Kydd and William Hopwood, occurred at the railway duplication works near Ravensbourne at 4.20 p.m. to-day. The accident was due to a premature explosion. Kydd, who was a married man, aged about 59 years, with a grown up family, resided a 1 Sawyer’s Bay. and was employed by the Railway Department as a casual quarryman. He was killed outright Hopwood who received serious injuries to the head and face, was taken w> hospital, where he died at 7.30 p.m. Hopwood was a ganger employed by the Railway Department, aged about 46, .whose wife lives at Riverton. An inquest will be held.
