BRILLIANT SWIMMERS
OLDS FAMILY IN U.S.A. GREAT I’T.'TURE. PREDICTED. Dunedin, Nov. 28. The loss that New Zealand swimming has sustained by tho departure of the Olds family for America is clearly shown by recent news of their performances. Leslie Olds. ex-New Zealand junior boys’ champion and record-holder, last month put up a great performance at a meeting staged by a young Californian club, the Pacific All Stars. He carried off the 200 metres (218.72yd5) in 2m. 455., which is remarkable time for a 13-year-old boy. and suggests that in a year or two he will loom forth prominently in the American swimming world. Leslie’s cider brother, D. Olds, is evidently getting back to the form he showed a couple of years ngo. He was second, and also captured the 90yds medley race in 565. The Pacific All Stars is composed of young swimmers, one of whom carried off the 50yds in 24 l-ss.
