FIRE BRIGADESMEN

HAWKE’S BAY DISTRICT. FOUR COMPETITIONS HELD. Firebrigadesmen had a day out on Saturday afternoon at McLean Park, Napier, when four competitions were held. There was a good attendance of the public. Thanks are due to Mrs. J. Riddell for the presentation of a gold medal tor the winner of the one-man event, and also to the Hastings Fire Board for a shield for the motor event, which, incidentally, they themselves, annexed. Twenty pounds in cash prizes was also distributed amongst tire placed teams. Results:— One-man event—Napier D, time 47 l-ssees., 1; Tomoana C, SOsecs., 2; Tomoana B. 50 3-ssecs, 3; Hastings D, 50 3-ssecs.. 4. For fifth prize money Napier C and Wairoa B tied with 51 2-ssecs., and in the run-off Napier C won. Thirty entries. Two-men event: —Napier A, 47 3-5 secs., 1; Wairoa A, 50 '3-ssecs.. 2; Railway A, 52 4-ssecs., 3. Fifteen entries. Three-men event Napier A, 61 3-ssecs., 1: Hastings A. 63secs., 2; Wairoa A. 67 l-ssees., 3. Ten entries. Motor Event.—Hastings. 1 min. 45 secs., penalties ssecs., 1 min. 50secs., 1; Wairoa A. Imin. 54 1-ssecs., 5 secs., Imin. 59 l-ssecs., 2: Tomoana, 2min. lOseos., 2 secs., 2min. 12sccs., 3. Four entries.
