MR. L.M. AMERY
ARRIVAL IN WELLINGTON CIVIC RECEPTION. MIGRATION SCHEME. (Per Pren Association), Wellington, Nov. 28. The Town Hall was tilled for the civic reception to the Hon. L. M. and Mrs Amery. A welcome was ex. pressed by the Mayor. Mr. G. A. Troup. The Hon. A. D. McLeod represented the Government, A memorial on migration was presented to Mr Amery from 44 organisation*. ‘rtie scheme outlined was supplementary to the Government activities and involves the employment ot British capital in the settlement of land by companies which would make a selection of suitable migrants, the British Government to investigate the scheme and on approval c_ndo.se it and afford the companies assistance under the Empire Settlement Act. Mr. Amerv said the question of migration and settlamant was one of nation-building wttbin the Empire Proper organisation and co-operation wore required to ensure that the right typo of migrants eamc to strengthen the Dominions, especially in primary production. He agreed that there was a field for private entApriss supplementary to wflat was done by the Governments.
