DESPERATE BURGLAR
FIRES REVOLVER WHEN CORNERED. TWO MEN WOUNDED. (Received 28, 10.15 a.m.) Sydney, Nov. 28. While attention was directed to a fire in a butcher's shop at Waltongong, a burglar entered a jeweller s shop in tjie same street. Two men attompfSa Up tfbtain him but the intruder drew a revolver and fired four shots, slightly wounding both men, ahd then decamped without securing the booty. When the fire was controlled at the butcher’s shop it was found thnt tho cash register had been rifled but had contained only a few shillings. Investigation at the jeweller’s revealed that the fire started in one of the rooms in the building. ARSON AND ROBBERY. There has heen a series of fires in the town during the last few weeks and tho police are of opinion that, a gang is working the district, combining arson with robbery.
