AMATEUR ATHLETICS
HASTINGS CLUB. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive of the Hastings Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club was held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms last evening, Mr. R. M. Hewitt presiding. It was decided to hold the next meeting on Wednesday, December 7th, starting at 8 p.m. This meeting will be held under the electric lights, and the following programme was set up:—100 yards handicap, )- mile novice cycle, 220 yards handicap, 1 lap dash cycle, 880 yards handicap. Imile cycle. 440 yards relay. 2 mile cycle handicap, 100 yards ladies’ handicap, long jump, 440 yards secondary schools. At this meeting there will also be a basket bail exhibition between the two championship teams, the White Hawks and the Hastings High School, this promises to be a unique attraction. In view of the counter attractions on January 2 it was decided to hold a big meeting the night following, January 3rd., starting at 8 p.m. Advice was received from the Wellington Centre to the fact that they would send through a champion team, and they are also endeavouring to arrange a tour of the Australian athletes, and if this tour eventuates they will compete here on January 3. The entries for the meeting on December 7 close with Mr. W. J. Carberry on the Saturday previous, December 3, and competitors are requested to wear their registered numbers otherwise they will not be allowed to compete.
