BOXING.
THE LECKIE-MADDOX FIGHT. The Hawke’s Bay Boxing Association met in Hastings last night, Mr. A. M. Brodie presiding. The action of the committee in arranging a match between J. Leckie and Duke Maddox was considered and endorsed. The date fixed is January 2 (th© second day of the H.B. Jockey Club’s meeting) and as the Municipal Theatre will not he then available the bout will be held in the Drill Hall. Four amateur bouts wil] also be arranged. It will he remembered that Leckie, who is the New Zealand featherweight champion, met Maddox nt .< contest for the title recently, nntl heat him some people explaining the local man’s defeat as being due l n a sprained ankle. The bout at Hastings null b® of fpn rounds but will not involve the title.
