PRISON MUTINY

A message from Sacramento save that the 1200 mutinous convicts at Folsom Prison, who defied the National Guard and prison officials tor--20 hours, surrendered peacefully and returned to their cells and normal Routine has been resumed. The apprising caused nine deaths and 22 were injured, one guard being killed and another dying from a heart attack. Seven prisoners were slain by machine-gun and live pi-son officials wounded. Seventeen convicts were struck by machine-gun bullets. RINGLEADERS IN SOLITARY CONFINEMENT. The seven ringleaders of the outbreak have been placed l in solitary confinement. The convicts sent a messenger to a warder under a flag of truce, asking tor immunity, winch he rufused, but promised the rioters protection from a beating at the hands of the guarus. —(A. and N.Z.)
