CABLE COMPANIES’ LOSSES Canberra, Nov. 24. The Rt. Hon. 8. H. Bruce stated that a committee would be appointed to consider the position of cable companies in view of the diversion of 45 per cent of their traffic to the beam system. The committee will investigate what ifiibsidy, if any, be heccssary to compensate the cable com panics for the traffic lost to the beam. He added that the Government recognised the necessity for the efficient operation of cable lines to provide reliable and secret communication against the emergency of War.
