SCHOOL SPORTS SOME EXCITING FINISHES A DELIGHTED CROWD. The Hastings West School sports, which were held in connection with the opening of Ebbett Park on Wednesday. were followed with the keenest interest by a large gathering oi spectators. The racing provided some exciting finishes, and the obstacle race caused considerable amusement amongst the delighted crowd. The 220 yards senior boys’ championship was won by Ward, the 100 yards junior boys’ championship by Campbell, and the 100 vards senior girls championship by Miss E. Allen. Mr Malone acted as starter. Messrs Beattie and Matthews discharged the duties of judges, and Messrs Trumpet and Christie attended to the Jotails of the events. Following are the results; — 100yds Handicap (boys over 13).— Ward 1, Keith 2, Spence 3. Obstacle Race.—First heat: Grace 1, Grav 2. Second heat: Steele 1. McKenzie 2.
