> H.B. WOMEN’S DIVISION AIMS OF THE ENGLISH SPEAKING UNION. MRS DE CASTRO’S ADDRESS. A most Interesting afternoon was spent yesterday at the special gathering in the Chamber of Commerce rooms of the women’s division of the Farmers’ Union, when Mrs de Castro spoke to the members and their friends on the activities and aims of the English-speaking Union. Mrs Rig gir president, was in the chair. AU present thoroughly enjoyed the short address, and many were . surprised to hear how much international friendliness is being increased among the nations by the propaganda and work of thia fine union. Members of it can feel that, to whatever part of the world they may go, it is not as a stranger for welcoming hands will help them to feel that aU the Englishspeaking nations belong to one great brotherhood. At the conclusion of the address, Mrs Field, on behalf of those pregen , cordially thanked Mrs de Castro. Afternoon tea, provided by the members was handed round. RECEPTION OF VISITORS. Mrs L. M. Amory, who comes to Hastings shortly is particularly interested in both the English-speaking Union and the women’s division of the Farmers’ Union, and aU members hope to meet her. Mrs Joll, the secretary left to-day for Wanganui, where a large reception is being held for Mrs Amery. v 4 There was discussion about tne forthcoming visit of Mrs Polson (Dominion President of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’Union) who, in a week or so, is coming to Hastings. A reception will be held and anyone may attend who wishes to hear and meet this interesting visit-
