The wool sales have commenced. The offerings totalled 11,022 bales, of which 5800 were Australian and 4741 New Zealand wool. There was a crowded attendance and a cheerful spirit was in evidence, together with excellent competition. The selection of merinos consisted almost entirely of line Haired continental style, and thp lots met with good demand, chiefly from French and German buyers, with prices ranging from par to five’ per cent advance, compared with September closing rates.

AU sections competed keenly for crossbreds. Greasy advanced 7} to 10 per cent, and semireds and slipes fully a penny.

Lambs wool was scarce and advanced five per cent. New Zealand prices realised were Waipaoa top price 194 d, average 18d, Weka Downs top price 42d, average 40d.

Williams and Kettle Litd. report: London svool sale opened yesterday, 22nd inst. with keen competition from all sections. As compared with closing rates of last series of 29 th September, coarse crossbred show an advance of Id per lb; medium and flue crossbred advanced lid per lb. This advance brings London more into line with present Dominion sales’ rates although we consider they are still id to id below New Zealand parity. Messrs Murray, Roberts and Ou., Ltd., report: Sales have opened; largo attendance of buyers. All sections .operating freely. Merino, good ideation offered par to 5 per cent advance. Wool suitable for the continent shows the greatest advance. Cross bred greasy fine and medium advance 10 per cent; crossbred greasy roarse advanced 74 per cent; crossbred scoured advanced 5 per rent; sl'pe crossbred advanced 5 per cent to 7J per cent.
