OBITUARY.
MR B. J. DOLAN. News was received in Hastings this morning bv Mr D. Baker Gabb that his brother-in-law. Mr B. J. Dolan, the well-known barrister and solicitor, had died suddenly this morning in Wellington. Ths telegram contained no particulars. The late Mr Bernard Joseph Dolan was born in County Sligo. Ireland, in 1874, and received his education at Summerhill College. Sligo. Mr Dolan came to New Zealand in 1893 and went to Masterton, where for five years he taught at the Homan Catholic School. Turning to the legal profession, in 1898 he was articled to Mr A. R. Bunnv. of Masterton. and was admitted a solicitor in 1903 and a barrister four vears later. After practising for a time in Masterton, he went to Napier, where he practised for a time alone, and later m conjunction with Mr L. A. Rogers. A year or so ago ne in Wellington. left Napier to practice his profession Mr Dolan was well known socially, and during his residence in .Napier he held the position of president of the Napier Boxing Association; he was also Chief Orphan in that town. For some years he was on the Board of Governors of the Napier Bovs' High School, He was also a life member of the International Law Society. A keen student, a wide reader, and a man of undoubted forensic gifts. Mr Dolan was always ready to place his knowledge at the disposal of the younger students of the law who, together with his contemporaries. will feel great sorrow at his death.
