A GRAND DISPLAY

< ROSES & SWEET PEAS

HASTINGS SOCIETY’S SHOW.

LARGE CROWDS VIEW EXHIBITS.

The Hastings Horticultural and Pastoral Society’s rose and sweetpea show came to a conclusion at the Assembly Hail on Saturday night, when the hall was packed with a floating throng of spectators, as was the case also during the afternoon session. An excellent orchestra contributed selections and this, together with the beauty and fragrance of the roses and the general gorgeousness of colour, as well as the magnetic community sense of general enjoyment in a crowd, all contributed to make the show an outstading success. The management was capable and in this regard, Mr. A. E. Palmer,, the secretary and his committee may be fairly congratulated, whilst the judging " was put through without undue delay. The Society has undoubtedly established itself in the district and its influence may be observed in the ever increasing number of attractive gardens around the town and district.
