ANNUAL G.F.S. FESTIVAL

The annual G.F.S, Festival for this diocese was held this year in Hastings, some 80 members taking part, on Saturday afternoon last.

The preliminary service was held in St. Matthew’s Church, being taken bv Rev. Hodge, of St. Augustine's, Napier, the sermon on “Moral Courage” being given by Rev. C. Mortimer-Jones. Later all were entertained at afternoon tea in the Vicarage garden, where tables and chairs were arranged under the trees.

A treasure hunt resulted in many attractive prizes being won by members, and a “peanut hunt” was won by Mrs Hayward, who was awarded a prize. Those present from Napier included G.F.S. members from St. John’s Cathedral, St. Augustine's and the Port. Visitors included Rev. Hodge and Mrs Hodge, Mrs Dill. Mrs Hansard. Mrs Cornford. Mrs Bedford, Miss Twigg. Miss White and Miss Pasley. Hastings representatives included Mrs Mortimer-Jones. Deaconess Holmes, Miss Rainbow, Mrs T B. McNeil. Mrs Fannin, Mrs Ruddock (Havelock North) Mrs B°ech. Mrs Hayward. Mrs Hill. Miss Warren (hon. secretary) Mrs Stnbhs. Mrs Boshier. Miss Wright, and many others.
