VISITORS TO NEW ZEALAND

A visitor of considerable interest, to women in Wellington was Mrs Cunningham Reid, who is with her husband, Captain Cunningham Reid. M.P., on a wedding tour ot the world. _ T . Mrs Cunningham Reid was Miss Ashley, an English heiress, and her sister is Lady Louis Mountbatten, whose husband, Lord Mountbatten, accompanied the Prince of Wales to Mew Zealand. At a reception given them by the English-Speaking Union in Wellington last Fridav Captain Cunningham Reid gave a bright and most entertaing resume of their five months’ travel. His wife, a young fresh English girl, captivated all whom sue met bv her natural and vivacious manner. Her ensemble suit was of soft powder-blue with lines of narrow brown fur. and her small hat was of the same shade of blue. In America they were the guests of Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford, whom they found delightful. The latter receives on an average 7000 letters a week! Charlie Chaplin composed and acted a play for Captain Reid to film in a camera he was taking on his tour. Mr and Mrs Reid were also the guests- of one of the richest men in the world, Mr Randolf Hurst, of the Hurst Press. This man provided a villa for each of his guests at h's ranch in California, the ranch-house being like an Italian palace. Mr. Hurst bought a castle in Wales three years ago, but had not yet been able to spare the time to see it!
