Firm Suspends Activities: The directors of Smith Waddington motor body builders, N.S.W., have decided to suspend trading operations temporarily, and the entire staff totalling between 300 and 400, has’ been paid off. The directors propose to reorganise the trading department, and the result of trading operations will be explained to shareholders when the future of the company will be decided. The Union Steamship Co. advise that on Friday, 23rd and Saturday 24th December, the s.s. Wahine will make daylight sailings for Lyttelton, leaving Wellington at 8.15 a'.m. Passengers availing themselves of these sailings will he able to connect with the night express from Christchurch to Dunedin.
