AMENDMENTS TO BILL
APPROVED BY THE HOUSE
(Special to “Tribune.”) Wellington, Nov. 19. Amendments made to the Howard Estate Amendment Bill bv the Legislative Council were agreed to by the House of Representatives last night. Sir George Hunter (Waipawa) regretted there was nothing in the bill to prevent the trust moneys being diverted from Hawke's Bay. He had had assurance -from the iate Mr. Alassey that the trust would ’« sacred to Hawke’s Bay. There had been sonic disquietude in the minds of the people on the subject since. However, both Sir George Hunter and Mr. E. A. Ransom said they believed the Council’s amendments were an improvement to the hill nnd would be approved in Hawke’s Bay.
