Fatal Shooting; A mysterious fatal shooting occurred in Paddington, a suburb of Brisbane. The body of Phyllis Miller was found in a street, while a few yards away a man named Reginald Vaughan was found with a severe bullet wound in the back of the head.

In Dail Eireann: In Dail Eireann Mr. Cosgrave’s Government was defeated by 66 to 64 on Captain Redmond’s motion seeking a commission to inquire into the circumstances of ex-service men in the Free State. Mr. Cosgrave said h 6 would accept the no-confidence motion with respect to the division and give time for its discussion to-morrow or Friday.
The Red Army: The “Daily News’ ” Riga correspondent says that, following on the Trotsky upheaval. there is considerable unrest in the Red Army, where he was once chief, and fears of a military revolt have resulted in changes in the staff. The “Daily News’ ” Berlin correspondent s vs it is reported that Trotsky is imprisoned in the Kremlin.
Slotted Wing Oevice; Sir Samuel Hoare is flying experimentally as a passenger in a machine fitted with the automatic safei- wing-slots, the invention of Mr. Handler Page, the American rights of which have been sold to the T nited State? Government for £220.000. The slots are designed tn give the pilot lateral control when flying slowly and when in such a position as would ordinarily mean stalling and a fatal spin, to which is attributed approximately 90 per cent, of al] aeroplane accidents.
