Education Amendment: Th© South Taranaki branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute decided Inst evening to protest to the Ministry against the proposed amendment in tlie Education Act giving boards power to inflict fines and deduct from teachers’ salaries. Mr. L. J. Furrie. president, sponsored a motion which referred to the amendment as a slur on the teaching profession.— Press Assn.
