ACCUSED PLEADS GUILTY.

Auckland, Nov. 18.

As a sequel to the raid on a whisky still at Mt. Albert on Saturday. John McSweeney pleaded guilty in the Police Court to being in possession of an unlicensed still and John Newman Lyons guilty to having knowinglysupplied an unlicensed still- Each was fined £25 The accused’s counsel stated that McSweeney had conceived th© still as a result of experiments with a milk cooling apparatus. His client had put his savings into the concern besides two years’ labour and he now stood to lose everything. The Magistrate observed that the legislature looked upon the matter ns serious and if he thought the still had been successfully operated the maximum penalty would have been inflicted.
