POWER SUPPLY
PORANGAHAU EXTENSION
The engineer stated at the Power Board meeting yesterday in reply to Mr. Longley, that no advice had as yet been received from Sir George i lunter, M.P., on the subject of the proposed extension into the Porangahau district.
Mr. Longley said that the proposed scheme did not take into due account the claims of Mangaorapa, where there were about 50 or 60 settlers, Porangahau township and Tautane. The chairman stated matters had not been finalised as to the extension to Wallingford. Mr. J. I). Ormond was waiting developments as to the service of Porangahau station en route.
Mr. Longley pointed out that the needs of Sir George Hunter could be met by a line back from Porangahau, and the engineer advised that only five and a half miles would be involved.
Mr Goodger contended that to proceed via Porangahau Station would lie she better policy. Tile discussion then lapsed.
